Navigating the Education System

This is the initial Navigating the Education System virtual information session for parents and caregivers. For an overview of the program click here.

In this session you will learn about:

  • The key processes you need to know to support your child at school

  • How the schoolboard determines which classroom your child will be placed in

  • How to appeal a decision if you disagree with your child’s placement

  • Individualized Education Plans, what they are and what you need to know

  • Ways you can advocate for your child’s needs

Where: This session will be delivered via Google Meet. 

Participation Requirements:

  • Must be registered with the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) and have a valid OAP registration number.

  • Mobile device, tablet, or computer

  • An internet connection

  • Speakers and a microphone

  • Webcam

Cost:  There is no cost to participate
