Crisis Prevention and Management for Caregivers
Part One - 1.5-hour interactive virtual workshop
Part 1 of a 3-part education series that will teach you how to plan to prevent a crisis in your home and ways to manage before, during and after a crisis has occurred.
This program is based on the principles of Safe Management Group® (SMG) which were developed by a team of psychologists, behaviour analysts/therapists and physical intervention specialists.
Safe Management Group’s Crisis Intervention Training program uses evidence-based practices and techniques
This education series will be delivered by a clinician that is an SMG-trained trainer.
Physical Intervention techniques will not be taught.
No certification is offered for this series.
YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND BOTH THIS SESSION & PART 2.
This educational series will help you learn how to:
Assess risk and prepare themselves, their children and their environment to decrease risk and increase safety.
Build stronger relationships with your child and family members
Understand your child’s behaviour and how to look for possible triggers
Assess the development of an aggressive situation in terms of four phases and how to incorporate these findings into an understandable “escalation continuum”
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Must care for a child under 18 with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Registered with the Ontario Autism Program with an OAP Registration Number
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS FOR VIRTUAL SESSIONS:
Access to an internet connection
Electronic device with camera and microphone
Private space for learning
