What is ABA?

A brief overview of Applied Behaviour Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding behavior. ABA refers to a set of principles that focus on how behaviors change, or are affected by the environment, as well as how learning takes place. The term behavior refers to skills and actions needed to talk, play, and live.

ABA uses principles rooted in evidence-based science to understand, and decrease challenging behaviour and teach new behaviours and skills that are important to individuals, their families, and the community.  Skills can vary across developmental domains including communication, social and adaptive skills, emotional regulation, and promoting independence.

Lake Ridge Community Support Services has been providing evolving ABA services to children, youth and adults since 1986.
