OAP updates families on the new Independent Intake Organization: AccessOAP

On March 30th, Minister of Children, Community and Social Services, Dr. Merrilee Fullerton sent out a letter to families registered to the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) informing them of updates to the program including the announcement that AccessOAP the new Independent Intake Organization will begin supporting families in April.

AccessOAP will be the single point of access for children registered in the OAP whose care providers will answer questions and provide information on services available through the OAP. Children registered to the OAP will begin receiving letters informing them how to create an account with AccessOAP and provide consent for the ministry to transfer a child/youth’s OAP record to AccessOAP.

Families can expect to receive these letters in the order in which they registered for the OAP. Until families receive their communication they can continue to reach the OAP using the contacts listed on

ontario.ca/Autism.

Minister Fullerton also announced that OAP Urgent Response would be available as of April 1st. Steps to access these services including eligibility can be found at ontario.ca/page/ontario-autism-program-urgent-response-services.

Additionally, the Minister announced staffing grants to bolster the capacity of OAP service providers and highlighted the Entry to School Program.
