CANADA, February 18, 2025 - Neuron Mobility, Canada’s leading e-scooter operator, has announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with Lake Ridge Community Support Services (LRCSS), a highly respected not-for-profit that supports people with autism and intellectual disabilities. The partnership aims to make shared e-scooters more accessible to neurodivergent communities, ensuring more people can benefit from this sustainable and convenient mode of transport.

LRCSS will provide valuable insights into how Neuron’s shared e-scooters can better serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. By identifying potential barriers and recommending improvements, the collaboration will help create a more inclusive transportation option for those who may face challenges with traditional mobility options.

As part of the initiative, Neuron will provide thousands of kilometers in free passes to LRCSS and its clients. For many people, including those with disabilities, e-scooters are a vital transport option, offering independence and flexibility that other modes of transport may not provide. Recent research shows that 5-8% of Neuron’s Canadian riders identify as having a disability or mobility impairment, with many relying on rental e-scooters more than those without these challenges.

Ankush Karwal, General Manager, Neuron Mobility Canada, said: “We’re thrilled to partner with LRCSS; their extensive expertise will help us improve our services and build on our existing accessibility initiatives, ensuring more people can confidently use our e-scooters. We are committed to ensuring that e-scooters remain an inclusive and viable solution for as many people as possible in the community.”

Ujeeta Mistry, Fundraising Manager/Family Engagement Coordinator, LRCSS, said: “We’re excited to partner with Neuron and explore how e-scooters can better serve people with autism and intellectual disabilities. By sharing our latest insights and conducting new research, we hope to break down barriers and make micromobility more inclusive for the communities we support.”

This exciting new partnership aligns with Neuron’s broader commitment to accessibility and community engagement. By working with organizations like LRCSS, Neuron continues to enhance the inclusivity of micromobility, ensuring that more people—regardless of ability—can confidently and safely enjoy the benefits of rental e-scooters.
