SESSION
Wait, we can do that? Shaping the landscape of sports, health and fitness services through behaviour analysis
October 21, 2022 - 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Sports, health, and fitness training is a vastly growing industry with a tremendous market share worldwide. Revenues from sports training services from youth to adult level is at an estimated 10.4 billion dollars by the end of 2022 (IBISWorld, 2022), while health and fitness training services are at an estimated 36.59 billion dollars (Statista, 2022). Research in behavior analysis has used the sports, health, and fitness platform to empirically prove some of the most widely used methods of interventions known (e.g., timeout, behavior momentum, delayed discounting). The major concern? Only behavior scientist knows the extent of which the science has greatly shaped the industry. With the increased amount of research being conducted and practitioners entering the industry from the ABA world, the behavior analytic coach will soon become as prevalent as sports psychologists and other mental health/performance therapists in the field. This talk will examine this movement and introduce listeners to ongoing data analysis with the goal to improve clientele performance.
